With notice

Termination of a contract with notice – by a declaration of one of the parties while respecting the notice period. The notice of termination must be delivered in writing to the other party and takes effect only after the expiry of the notice period.

The notice period depends on the length of service:
• Termination of a fixed-term or indefinite-term employment contract, depending on length of service:
– up to 6 months → notice period is 2 weeks
– from 6 months to 3 years → notice period is 1 month
– at least 3 years → notice period is 3 months

• Termination of a trial employment contract, where the trial period:
– does not exceed 2 weeks → notice period is 3 days
– is longer than 2 weeks → notice period is 1 week
– is 3 months → notice period is 2 weeks

Practical example

A notice period measured in weeks always ends on a Saturday, while a notice period measured in months ends on the last day of the month. This means that a monthly notice period does not start from the day the notice is given, but from the beginning of the following month until its end. For example, if an employee has 1.5 years of service and submits their notice on July 4, 2025, the notice period will end on August 31, 2025. Regardless of whether the employee submits their notice on July 4 or July 30, they will still be employed until the end of the next month (in this case, August).
